A New Battery for a New Year

I got a new battery in my car this week, but let me start from the beginning...

First, Spirit gave me a gentle warning, as is often the case, by sending me a client for an Intuitive Reading. She had a weak battery signal in her car, and needed to have it replaced. Her mechanic had thought it might be the starter, but it turned out to be the battery. The guidance that Spirit channeled through me was to reassure her that she was in a good space and not messing up(why do we tend to go there first?) and that all was well.

What I got from Spirit during that reading, was that the starter in a car represents our "consciousness" and the battery, represents life force energy, that enables us to take inspired action and move forward. Do you all know that when we have a dream about a car, the car most likely represents our life?

So when my car wasn't starting well the last few days, I already had this "heads up" from Spirit. Thank you, God!

I took my car in to a new mechanic, that my girlfriend had recently recommended - someone I could trust. He said my starter was fine, but it was time to replace the battery.

I am proud of myself that I was able to avoid going to that place of , "what's wrong with my consciousness that my car's not starting well?" I really did know that my connection to Source has been quite strong of late.

I knew that the old battery was associated with time spent with my ex-boyfriend. Having recently moved on from that relationship, I am sure this was Spirit's way of helping me bless and release all connections to him. The Truth is, I knew staying with him had been holding me back from taking inspired action and moving forward...thus the symbolism of the car not starting well.

It feels fitting, that as 2009 draws to a close, I am starting the new year with a brand new battery, fresh energy, freedom from old restraints, and anticipation of new love just around the corner. My consciousness is doing just fine, thank you!

Happy New Year, from my car to yours.

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!!

Stand Up For Yourself

"Stand up for yourself, even if your voice is shaky."

I just saw this on a bumper sticker tonight and wanted to share it with you.

It reminds me of the title of the book, written by Susan Jeffers, "Feel the Fear, and Do It Anyway." I went to her workshop in the eighties in Santa Barbara. I spoke with her at the break, and she autographed my book. I love her message. She says, you don't have to wait until you are feeling totally ready to do something. If we wait for the fear to be gone before we take action, we may never do it.

I think standing up for our self, even if we don't feel 100% confident about doing it, is a terrific idea. Don't you? Consider it.

Has anyone seen the movie, "Bounce" with Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck? It is one of my all time favorites. In it, Gwyneth's character says she's scared all the time. Ben Affleck, sensitive hunk that he is, says, "It's not brave unless you're scared."

Be brave, do the thing you're scared to do, even if you're shaky. Feel the fear and do it anyways. What have you got to lose???

"We have nothing to fear, but fear itself." FDR

Much love to each of you,
Sherry

I Will Extol Thee

Dear Friends,

I found myself caught up in the frenzy of the holiday preparations. First, I forgive myself for judging myself. Next, I take a deep breath and remember the True Spirit of the Holiday; to love one another, to seek and seek evermore, The Presence.

With that in Mind, I will be sharing devotional prayers from Paramahansa Yogananda this week, to help each of us, myself included, stay in alignment during the Holidays. Blessed Be...

I Will Extol Thee:

"O Spirit, make my soul Thy temple, but make my heart Thy beloved home where Thou wouldst dwell with me in ease and everlasting understanding."

~ Paramahansa Yogananda, Self-Realization Fellowship

Calming thoughts to each of you,

Love,
Sherry

The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth

"Forget what you have been taught, so you can remember what you know."

~ Alan Cohen, author of The Dragon Doesn't Live Here Anymore

I believe that he is talking about forgetting the false beliefs we were taught growing up. If any of us were fortunate to be taught we were part of Source, pure love, I'd hold on to that one.

But if we were taught that we're not enough, taught not to listen to our intuition, taught not to stand up for ourselves, or taught not to express our feelings - that's the stuff we can forget about. Just let it go.

Then remember what we know: We are the individualized expression of the Divine...and THAT's the Truth, The Whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth, so help me God.

I know this is the truth for each and every one of us. I am going to practice seeing myself through the eyes of Source, just for the fun of it, and see how it feels. I imagine it's going to feel DIVINE, don't you?

Let's Affirm together today: "I remember what I know - I AM ONE WITH GOD."

Go Around Her

Spirit is always trying to reach us with messages. Our job is to “get” them. I want to share what happened to me the other day. The whole time it was going on, I knew there was a message from God in there. This is the way I see the world a lot of the time. You know how when you wake up from a dream, you try to interpret the symbolism in the dream and get the messages for yourself? I do that with real life experiences.

Here’s what happened:

I was on my way to an appointment. I was thinking about whether I should end an 8 year relationship with a friend. Probably, that was my “asking” for guidance from Spirit. I was on Lindley Avenue when I noticed a lot of commotion. There were police on motorcycles, and lots of cars coming out of a church driveway. I slowed down and came to a stand-still, right in front of the church. I realized I was caught up in the middle of a funeral procession. All the cars were being assembled, a bit chaotically, to follow the procession to the cemetery. There were two lanes in the direction I was headed. I was in the left lane. One car was in front of me, and had stopped to wait. No one was in front of her. There was a long row of cars (mourners) in the lane to my right.

I decided to accept the situation rather than fight it. I wanted to be respectful of the circumstances. I thought about how important it was for all of these people to take the time out of their routines to pay their final respects.

I was okay with waiting. But the two young men (mourners) in the car to my right, had their window down, and spoke to me. “Go around her,” they said.
I asked, “Do you mean make a U turn?” “No, go around her,” was their firm reply. So I did. But first, I said to the two young men, “my condolences on your loss,” and they acknowledged my gesture and thanked me. In front of the police and everyone else, I moved forward, onto my destination. I remember being a bit scared that I might get in trouble with the motorcycle cops, because I actually had to enter the opposing traffic lane to go around her. It felt risky, and a bit disrespectful.

Here’s my analysis of why this happened. When I was an adult, my mother lived on Lindley Avenue, actually 2 blocks from where I was stuck in front of that church the other day. Coincidence?? She passed away 8 years ago. I believe the car in front of me represented my mom. I was allowing her to “keep me stuck” in the old unhealthy beliefs she had taught me. Her messages were keeping me from moving forward to my destination in life. “Stay small, Sherry. Don’t outshine others. Always put other people’s needs before your own. Don’t stand up for yourself - it might hurt someone’s feelings.” The two young men in the car represented my sons. They were supporting me and letting me know it was okay to “go around her.” When I gave them my condolences on their loss, I believe I was telling my sons, I’m sorry for what you lost because of me. It feels like the message from Spirit was, “Let those old beliefs die now. Their time has passed. Even if it feels risky, it is safe to move ahead.”

Spirit gave me the guidance I asked for. It fell right into my lap in front of a church on Lindley Avenue. So I did end that 8 year relationship this past weekend. It felt like the right thing to do for me, even if it was going to hurt him. It took courage to “go around her” old beliefs and move forward to the “appointment” with my Good. This was not only the end of a relationship, but also the “death” of my mother’s voice in my head.

Rest in Peace…

Sherry Baby

This is a true story. Click here, SherryBaby to listen to the song while you read this post, if you'd like!

Growing up, "Sherry Baby" by Franki Valli and the Four Seasons was, of course, one of my favorite songs. In grammar school (yikes) a boy that had a crush on me gave me the "45" record of "Sherry Baby." Over the years, I enjoyed the song, and got a kick out of people singing it to me when they were introduced to me and heard my name. Years later, after my father passed, whenever I was needing a lift, I would hear "Sherry Baby" playing on the radio. It felt like my dad was dropping by to say hello, to comfort me...to remind me I was not alone, and that he was watching over me.

Fast forward to 8 years ago, when my younger son was in High School. His girlfriend at the time, was visiting our home one day. "Sherry Baby" came on the radio, and I ran to turn it up louder. His girlfriend said, "Oh, do you like that song? My grandfather, Bob Guadio, wrote Sherry Baby...he is one of the Four Seasons! Would you like to meet him?"

Oh My God!! I did meet him, and he was very kind, considering that I could hardly speak. I felt like one of those hysterical teenage groupies. People kept the conversation going until I gained some composure and felt like a bit of an adult again. I asked if he had named the song after someone special. I remember he said that he did not, but that after he wrote it, they named the horse on their ranch in the mid-west, "Sherry Baby." I thought that was funny.

Why write about this in a spiritual blog? Because the news that her grandfather wrote "Sherry Baby" was astounding to me on a few levels. One, how could I be so old, that my son's girlfriend's GRANDFATHER, ... you get the picture. The other level was spiritually. I was in awe by the Universe's orchestration of all this. As you know, I don't believe there are coincidences. Sometimes I feel it's all been played out ahead of time on God's chess board. "I'll put this person here, then move that one over there, and that will make room for the next experience, etc."

At the time, I was going through a difficult divorce, and my dad, from the other side, surely knew. It felt like Spirit helped him "kick it up a notch," by not just playing the song on the radio to comfort me, but by bringing one of The Four Seasons, and the creator of "Sherry Baby" into my life right when I needed a really big lift! I wonder, could God be that all-knowing, to have orchestrated this decades ago, knowing I would need comfort at that moment?? With God...All Things ARE Possible.

"Sherry Baby...why don't you come out tonight, where the bright moon shines, we'll dance the night away...I'm gonna make you mi-i-ine.."

What's Your Story?

"Use your willpower and your decision to focus upon what you want - and then the Universe will bring you what you want."

~ Abraham, Esther and Jerry Hicks

Tell a new story. It's that simple. If what you have isn't want you want, tell a new story. Whatever we are thinking about, comes about. So if we are focused on how things aren't working in our lives, we'll get more of that. You can begin to notice what you talk about all day, to your friends, your co-workers, when you're on the phone. That's the old story, most likely.

The trick, according to Abraham, is to focus on what you DO want. This idea really annoys people! They say, "But it's true, that I don't have this thing. I have to face reality, don't I?" Nope. If you keep focusing on the "not having it," you'll never get it.

What does telling your story look like? Sit down, and write it. Tell it like you "want it to be," rather than, "telling it like it is." Write it as if it's already happened, and you are telling a dear friend how it FEELS now that you have what you have wanted.

By the way, you ARE telling a dear friend...you are telling God. Make it a game. Be light about it. Use your IMAGINATION, your most powerful tool for manifesting. Create your new story, and then watch for the evidence to show up in physical form. This is the really fun part. If you look for it, you will see it. Then write down the evidence as it is building. Be appreciative of each piece of evidence. It will begin to expand. You are raising your vibration, and feeling like the powerful creator that you are.

The Universe will respond in kind to whatever we are thinking about and talking about and focusing on.

Here's my new story: "I feel so good because everything keeps getting better and better."

What story do YOU want to tell the next person YOU talk to???

Affirmation O' the Day: I tell a better story!

The Case of the Black Hefty Bag

"A belief is only a thought that I keep thinking."
~ Abraham, Esther and Jerry Hicks

I trust you all had a good Thanksgiving. I was drawn to clean out clutter over the weekend. It felt good. I put some things in a black hefty bag and placed the bag on the corner in front of my house. I put a "FREE" sign on the bag. Someone would benefit from that which I no longer needed.

The black bag sat there. No activity. I have put things out on that corner and they've been gone within an hour. The bag kept sitting there. It was good stuff, useful items, unopened things, not junk. I'd peek out the window, and darn, the black bag was still there. I thought, "No one wants my stuff, it's free, so why can't I get rid of it?" (A belief is only a thought I keep thinking) I knew I was clearing out my past when I removed the clutter. The bag was still out there. 24 hours and no takers. I decided that I hadn't done a good job of clearing out my past, emotionally. My thought was, "I must be doing something wrong, the bag is still out there." (A belief is only a thought I keep thinking)

So I checked in with Spirit and said, "Spirit reveals to me the message in the black bag still being out there." I always get an answer. (A belief is only a thought I keep thinking) The answer was to go look in the bag. I did. To my amazement, most of the stuff inside the black bag HAD been taken, and the bag was almost empty.

The light bulb went on. I kept thinking no one wanted my stuff, when actually, they had already taken it and were enjoying it. I thought there was no movement of energy, that I was stuck, when I was NOT. (A belief is only a thought I keep thinking)

My belief was that there was evidence that I wasn't doing a good job. The black bag was still sitting out there. It was my "proof." That was what I believed, and so that was what I saw. I needed to look within (the bag, and myself), and see that I actually HAD done a good job, I had released some of my past...I just didn't believe that I had.

A belief is only a thought I keep thinking...

Signs from God

"I have sent you nothing but Angels"

~ God

I believe God is always sending us messages. Our job is to notice them. They are everywhere. I keep a small notepad in my car. When I see a sign from God, I write it down. Here is the latest accumulation of messages just for me (and you) from God.

From personalized license plates on cars right in front of me:

IN2LVNG (Into Loving)

IBLVEE (I believe)

WHORU (Who are you?)

JUSTBLV (Just Believe)

DEEPFUN (Deep Fun)

GOTHOPE (Got Hope)

Followed by a bumper sticker that said:

"My boss is a Jewish Carpenter"

Followed by a song on the radio:

"Let Me Be Your Hero."

I know you see them too. I thought it would be nice to bring attention to how clever God is in answering our prayers, and showing us the way. Thanks, God!

We are NEVER alone...

Affirmation O' the Day: I am grateful for the awesome ways that God reminds me I am loved.

Coming Out

Last night I had the privilege of witnessing a new friend "come out" of the closet, so to speak, and share her authentic self in an intimate group setting.

It was a delight to be a part of her moment. It truly was her moment. She had grown so much to get to this place of authenticity. It took courage for her to say, "this is who I am, what I love to do, and this is how I do it."

It was a joy for me to see her glow from within as she shared what makes her heart sing. How wonderful it was to learn how she creates her "gift" and to feel her passion.

This got me thinking...we are all here to share our gifts, and "come out." We are not meant to hold back our blessings. No more hiding them under a bushel. Surely, there is a Divine Time for each of us...I am simply asking you, "Is this YOUR Divine Time, too?"

Affirmation O' the Day: I give myself permission to come out and dance in the light of the moon.

Love,
Sherry

Recipe for Joy

Recipe for Joy

Seek joy, first and foremost.
Seek reasons to laugh.
Seek reasons to offer words of praise to self and others.
Seek beauty in nature, beasts and other humans.
Seek reasons to love.
In every segment of every day — look for something that brings forth within you a feeling of love.
Seek that which uplifts you.
Seek opportunities to offer that which uplifts another.
Seek a feeling of Well-being.
Know that your value can only be measured in terms of Joy.
Acknowledge your absolute freedom to do any of these things or to not do any of these things — for it is, without exception, your choice in every moment of every day.

~ Written by Jerry Hicks, http://www.abraham-hicks.com/

These are the "Ten Commandments" inspired by Jerry's understanding of Abraham. If we would but print this and read it every day, taking the lessons to heart, what wonderful blessings we would receive...

A special thank you to Karen Mead who creates the most amazing essential oils from her heart, http://www.apeacefulpath.com/, for sharing this beautiful poem with me.

Faith Creates

"Cuz I gotta have faith...da dum da dum."

~ George Michael
Click here to listen to George Michael sing "Faith"

In yesterday's post, I said I trusted the system. I've thought about what that means. Actually, that trust is how I would define my faith.

There is a fine line between faith and doubt. We want to believe, but we're not so sure it's true. When this is where you are at, ask someone to have faith FOR you.

What that looks like is the one supporting you is saying, "I will know the Truth for you, while you are not able to know it for yourself." What is the Truth? The Truth is that God is all there is. It's All God. God is in the midst of the mess you may currently be in. (Although God doesn't see it as a mess...more likely as an opportunity) God is solving the crisis as we speak. Divine solutions abound. Having faith in THAT Truth, can really make a difference for you.

Having someone hold the "high watch" for you really works. Both parties are benefited from this co-creative process. Try it. Before you know it, you will begin to see signs, evidence that things are improving, creative ideas and solutions will seem to appear "out of nowhere." (the "nowhere", by the way, is where faith creates) Miracles occur. Watch for them.

Prayer works. Your faith in a friend's "knowing" for you, is like the faith of a mustard seed. That's all you need. Lean on their faith, and allow theirs to strengthen yours.

What else are friends for???

Our Divine Plan

"God's in his heaven, all's right with the world."
~ Robert Browning

When we are going through something challenging, sometimes we assume we've done something wrong to create it. "What's wrong with my consciousness, that I attracted this mess?"

So we begin to beat ourselves up, and that expands the challenge even more.

The Truth is...everything in our life is happening according to a Divine Plan. OUR Divine Plan.

I hear you saying, "How can you call THIS Divine?"

Because I trust the system. There is a feeling deep within me that knows this Truth. God as my Higher Self is running the show here, manifesting what will bring me to my greatest joy. It may look like a fiasco, but it is really a gift, an answer to my prayer.

Through free will, I may have asked for, let's say, "Freedom," as a goal in my Divine Plan. My Higher Self kicks into High Gear, (no coincidence on the pun) and starts creating opportunities for me to create that freedom. Maybe I needed to have a sense of limitation first, in order to break loose from those shackles. Without the shackles (i.e., the gift) existing in the first place, my freedom can't be won. I can curse the shackles, or I can bless them for what they ultimately brought me. I choose to bless them.

If we can step back from being in the thick of things, and see this from a Spiritual perspective, everything is happening perfectly. Divine Right Action is always taking place.

Trust the system. The Universe is always conspiring in our favor. Expect the challenge to unfold for your highest good. It will...Trust me.

Affirmation O' the Day: "All's right in my world."

The Race is Over

"What if the race is over and we all automatically win? What if the test has been taken, and we're all passing again and again? What if the race is over and we're all born victorious...what then?"

~ Daniel Nahmod, from his music CD "Water" www.danielnahmod.com

What if I told you that you are doing better than you think? (and you probably are.)

What if God told you, "You're ahead of schedule."

What if no one is judging us? Especially not as hard as we are judging ourselves.

What if we replaced our critical voice, with a loving voice? What would that voice be telling you right now?

My loving voice would say, "look at how far you've come. You're further than you think. You're actually there..you just haven't realized it. I love you. You have never been alone. I have always been showing you the way. I always will. You are wonderful. You are precious. You have always deserved. Go forth, and enjoy the fruits of your labor now. It is time my beloved...it is time."

44 Lessons of Life

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 44 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay cheque.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. 20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, & wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, and then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter”?
26. Always choose life.
27. Forgive everyone everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
32. Believe in miracles.
33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
36. Your children get only one childhood.
37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
38. Get outside every day . Miracles are waiting everywhere.
39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
41. The best is yet to come.
42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
43. Yield.
44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

The Law of Attraction - Post #6

"Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass."

Isaiah 14:24

We want to create things in our life, because we believe we will feel good when we have them. We believe we'll be happy when we have what we desire. Being HAPPY NOW is the solution. The last part of our discussion on using The Law of Attraction to create what we want needs to be about how we get to our "Happy Place" in the now moment.

Our intention is to raise our vibration, to be a vibrational match of that which we desire. I want to share some tools with you, that will help raise your vibration.

1. GET HAPPY. Whatever it takes, get happy. Think of the things that make you happy. Just thinking about them will raise your vibration. You can remember moments when you were very happy, or you can DO things that make you happy. Focusing on these things for only 68 seconds will raise your vibe, according to Abraham.

2. VISUALIZE having the thing you want. Get to the FEELING place of having it. Feel those feelings. Research shows that the brain reacts the same to visualizing something as to actually experience that thing. Fascinating! This is a technique that Olympic athletes use during training. They visualizing winning their event and what that will FEEL like.

3. Ask and It is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks, has 22 processes (they call them games, because life is supposed to be fun) in the back of the book. Each game is a tool to raise your vibration. They are all excellent.

4. MEDITATE. This connection to Source is highly recommended. Because seeing the world through the eyes of Source will definitely raise your vibration.

5. APPRECIATE. Write in your Gratitude Journal, things that you are grateful for. Abraham calls this a Rampage of Appreciation. When we are emanating an essence of appreciation, the Law of Attraction will mirror that, and give us more things to appreciate. This always works.

Thus endeth the lessons on The Law of Attraction. YAHOO!

Affirmation O' the Day: "I am a Happy Vibrator!!!!"

Love,
Sherry

The Law of Attraction - Post #5

"Prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

~ Malachi 3:10

The Bible is corroborating the belief that our resistance is what keeps us from receiving. God does not withhold anything. If our bowl of acceptance is turned upside down, then God has no where to pour the blessing. Even the Divine Substance, opulent as it is, awaits our acceptance.

So it is our work to take a look at what thoughts we have that may be turning our bowl upside down. If we are negative, carrying a grudge, holding resentments, or complaining, we are not creating the space for us to receive.

So the solution is to practice forgiveness of self and others. Let go of those grudges - they don't serve anyone. Be aware of our complaining, and replace those thoughts with thoughts of appreciation and love. In time, you will see the fruits of your labor. It is worth the work. We are powerful creators. As Abraham says, "we can be, do or have whatever we desire."

Affirmation O' the Day: "I open my bowl of acceptance to receive God's good graces."

The Law of Attraction - Post #4

Resistance is the energy that keeps us from creating what we desire. Resistance causes our vibration to stay lower than the vibration of what we are asking for.

Common forms of resistance show up as untrue beliefs, not feeling worthy or deserving, complaining, or holding a grudge, to name a few.

There may be an untrue belief we have, that is the culprit that keeps away our manifestation. Eventually we'll ask ourselves, "why am I not getting this thing that I want?" If we can go within, there may be a belief that rears it's head to be healed.

For example, you may have a belief that says, "I have to work hard to earn everything I have." This old belief may have come from the way you were raised. Maybe the thing you want would be so easy and joyful to create, that your old belief is causing the resistance to it showing up. Do you see this? The belief is saying, "I can't have things come to me easily." Well, some of our beliefs no longer serve us, and we can use this awareness to let go of a belief, and replace it with a new one, such as: "It is safe for me to create easily and joyfully now."

Resistance really is trying to help show us the way...let's allow it to help us create.

Affirmation O' the Day: "I release any resistance to creating what I desire. "

Love,
Sherry

The Law of Attraction - Post #3

I want to talk more about receiving, the third step in manifesting using The Law of Attraction. You may ask, "Why am I not receiving what I asked for?"

Let's break this down together. Let's say you want a car. On a vibrational scale of 1 to 10, 10 being super happy, you believe you'd be at an 8 if you had this new car. But right now in your life, you're vibrating at about a 3 on the happy scale. The theory behind the Law of Attraction says, "like attracts like." So you won't be a vibrational match to your car, until you are feeling like an 8 on the happy scale. Then the car manifests.

Many of us believe, "when I get the car...THEN I'll be happy." But this is false thinking. That would be sending out the vibration that "I'm not happy now, but I will be when I get the car." The Universe will pick up on your "I'm not happy now," thoughts and mirror back to you MORE of "I'm not happy now." This is tricky, but how it works.

That's why being aware of our thoughts is really crucial. You have 60,000 thoughts each day; 95 percent of them are the same thoughts you had yesterday and the day before. It is the essence of our dominant thoughts that give us our vibration. I think of it as an average of all our thoughts. Abraham says we need 51% of our thoughts to be positive. That's good news, because we can still have an occasional negative thought and manifest what we desire. We don't have to be perfect at this...just aware.

Next up, we'll talk about what resistance we may have that keeps us from our desires...and what we can do to release this resistance.

Affirmation O' the Day: "I am aware of my thoughts. I choose to keep the good ones now."

The Law of Attraction - Post #2

Yesterday's post began our week long discussion of The Law of Attraction by defining it.

Today, I want to share the book, "Ask and It is Given - Learning to Manifest Your Desires," by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This book explains beautifully The Law of Attraction and how to apply it in our daily lives. In my opinion, this is the ONLY book you will need from all the variety of books out there, including many others by Esther and Jerry. Esther channels Abraham, a non-physical collective consciousness, a teacher. You may learn all about Abraham and this teaching by visiting their website, www.abraham-hicks.com

You may want to sign up to receive their free daily quotes that explain the The Law of Attraction. They are from their workshops and are wonderful and uplifting.

When I teach the Introduction to The Law of Attraction course, it takes 6 weeks to cover the beginning material, but I will summarize what the book says about the Law of Attraction in a condensed version here.

The book states there are 3 steps to manifesting what you desire. ASK-GIVEN-RECEIVE:

Step 1 - YOU ASK.
This is your work. Ask for what you desire. Declare it to the Universe. Be clear. Your thoughts, prayers or affirmations are your asking. You are placing your order with the Universe. Consider how you will FEEL when you have what you want. Mostly, we desire things, because we believe we will FEEL GOOD when we have them.

Step 2 - IT IS GIVEN.
This is not your work. The Universe answers automatically. The Universe always says, "YES, YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND." All things that you ask for are immediately understood and fully offered by Source, without exception. Every prayer is answered. It goes into what they used to call your "vibrational escrow," and now they call it your "vortex."

Step 3 - RECEIVE.
This is your work. Most of the book is spent explaining how to receive. You allow it in. The answer, which has been given, must be allowed or received. You have to let it in. To do this, you must release resistance to feeling the way you will feel when you HAVE what you desire. This is all about raising the vibrational frequency of your Being to be a vibrational match of what you desire.

If you have any questions about this, please post them to me, and I will respond. This material is such a powerful tool, I hope you enjoy this topic as much as I do...

Love,
Sherry

The Law of Attraction

Hello Everyone,
As promised, this week we will explore together The Law of Attraction. This is the most effective tool for creating, and that is why I am devoting a whole week to it. As many of you already know, the premise behind the Law of Attraction is that you will manifest into your life, whatever you are thinking about, both positive and negative. This is empowering because we have creative control over our lives. The part that people don't enjoy, is realizing that we have attracted EVERYTHING we are currently experiencing. That makes us accountable. No one to blame. But the good news is, we can change our life by changing our thinking. We are always attracting...

Today, I want to start with quotes that help us define The Law of Attraction. As the week progresses, we will explore how to use this powerful tool in our daily lives.

Quotes defining The Law of Attraction:

"That which is like unto itself is drawn.”
~ Abraham, Ask and It Is Given, by Esther and Jerry Hicks

“Like attracts like.”

“It is done unto you as you believe.”

“What a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7)

“I attract to my life whatever I give my attention, energy and focus to, whether positive or negative.” ~ Michael Losier

“You get what you think about, whether you want it or not.”
~ Abraham

Excerpted from “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne:

“As above, so below. As within, so without.”
~ The Emerald Tablet, circa 3000 BC

“If you can think about what you want in your mind, and make that your dominant thought, you will bring it into your life.”
~ Bob Proctor

“Thoughts become things.” ~ Mike Dooley, Notes from the Universe, www.tut.com

“Everything that’s coming into your life you are attracting into your life, and it’s attracted to you by virtue of the images you are holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking, whatever is going on in your mind, that you are attracting to you. ~ Bob Proctor

Confirm or Ignore

"GOD has added you as a friend on Facebook. We need to confirm that you know GOD in order for you to be friends. To confirm this friend request, follow the link below."

Thank you,
Your Guardian Angels

Driving by a local church tonight, I got this idea from the sign on their front lawn. God wants to be our friend. We can confirm we know God, or ignore the kind invitation. It is up to us. God won't judge us either way, and the invitation is always extended. God is patient. We can confirm at any time down the road, too. There is no deadline for the request to be honored.

I like the idea that we need to "follow the link" to confirm. For me, it means to follow the signs that God is sending us. They are "links" to our connection with Spirit. We can ignore the signs, too, if we choose. We always have free will. But God won't stop sending the signs. God is a persistant bugger! I believe God's signs are saying to us, "come here dear one, come this way, befriend me, and it will all be soooo much easier on you."

Oh, by the way, after I saw the sign in front of the church, I saw a personalized license plate that said, "I GVETHX" (I give thanks). Do you think I could make this stuff up??? I have been neglecting my gratitude journal lately, so that was a subtle hint to get back with the program. I'm on it, God. Thanks for the tip on how to be more "linked" with you.

Affirmation O' the Day: I confirm my friendship with God.

P.S. Have a safe and playful Halloween. Next week, we will cover The Law of Attraction together.

Love

"Someday, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love. Then for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire."
~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

The power of love. There are so many forms of love, such a variety of ways we can love one another. We can love God, our mate, our children, our friends, our co-workers, our neighbors, our beloved pets, and yes, even our ex-spouses. Do you put yourself on that list? Let's add love of self to the list. Maybe even consider putting it first, right up there with love of God, since God and I are One. For that matter, everyone on that list is God expressing.

This quote speaks to the power of love. Personally, I have a very strong belief in this power. My belief in the power of love has been the driving force that has sustained me through the great challenges in my life. It has been a lifeline, a knowing in my heart, that helped me persevere and then ultimately rejoice. It is this belief, more than any other, that I have taught my children:

LOVE ALWAYS PREVAILS. ALWAYS.

God speaks to us through music

On Sunday, God was busy speaking to me through music. On the way to my Spiritual Center my car radio was playing "One Love" by Bob Marley. Click here to listen to it: One Love by Bob Marley on www.youtube.com That really uplifted me, especially the lyrics, "let's get together and feel all right." That song can get anybody out of a bad mood!

Then during the Sunday Service, I heard the song, "One Power" by Daniel Nahmod. Click here to listen to it: One Power by Daniel Nahmod on www.youtube.com a very moving song about the different names for God around the world and how they all hold the same meaning...the power of love.

The service ended with a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace" Click here to listen to it: Amazing Grace on www.youtube.com . I was especially touched by the lyrics, "I once was lost, but now am found; was blind but now I see."

Talk about receiving messages from God. It was a one-two-three punch for me. Boom. Boom. Boom. It set the tone for me to feel connected to The Presence all day long. Very powerful stuff. Way to go, God!

If you ever feel alone, just listen to the ways God is trying to reach you, and comfort you.

Affirmation O' the Day: God is...music to my ears.

Rebecca

In Hebrew the name Rebecca means beauty. My dear friend Rebecca is full of grace and beauty, inside and out. She floats through life on a sea of integrity and kindness. Always giving to others, she is the definition of unconditional love. I have been blessed to call her my friend for over 17 years.

Rebecca has loved me, when I did not love myself. She held hope for me when I had none. She has nourished and nurtured me with her compassion and caring.
She has always seen the good in the relationships I had, even when I could not.

Rebecca should be the poster child for "A friend being there for you." I have trusted Rebecca, feeling safe sharing my inner most feelings, and she has never let me down. Through all the challenges and defeats, she has held my hand. Through the struggles she has encouraged me to go on. Through the fears, I have never felt alone. Tenderly, without intending to, she has guided my life... she has shown a light on my path. Now as we celebrate the victories, the challenges overcome, there is a history, a deep understanding between us, of what it took to get here...to be free at last.

Always humble, she will be a bit embarrassed to read this today. But she is deserving of these words of love and appreciation that pour from my heart.

Her non-judgemental manner always comforts me. She has taught me what it feels like to matter in someones life. Her concern for my well-being, her encouragement, and her insight all serve as reminders of what we are meant to be for each other.

Today, I thank you for all that you are in my life, Rebecca. Thank you for helping me get to the other side of the pain. God must really love me, to have blessed me with such an angel.

You mean so much to me, and I love you with all my heart.

Thank you for being my sister on this journey called life.

Godspeed, Rebecca.

I See the Light

"Spirit needs to express through you, and as you are created by Spirit, you can always, always draw upon your invisible wellspring, that which knows you, loves you, and is your source and your supply. There is no difficulty that you cannot overcome. God is bigger than any problem, and your life is God's life in action. You will endure, you will prevail, because you know who you are. THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL AND THAT LIGHT IS YOU."

~ Nancy Zala, November 2004

Wow. I go to this quote often when I need to be reminded of the Truth. Sometimes it is hard for me to wrap my arms around the idea that Spirit is working through me. When I feel alone, I can feel overwhelmed thinking I've got to solve the problem all by myself. Maybe that's where my problem stems from. Thinking I am alone. Ah ha!

The sages teach us that we can either tell God how big our problem is...or tell the problem how big our God is. I think I'll choose the latter, today.

We used to kid that the light at the end of the tunnel is probably a freight train coming towards you. Now, I love Nancy Zala's suggestion that the light at the end of the tunnel is the light that emanates from within.

So I'm going to allow Spirit to wrap it's arms around me and solve the situation "through" me, by means of me. Yeah...that feels better already.

Affirmation O' the Day: I open up my eyes to see the light within me.

Love,
Sherry

Family

"Friends are God's way of apologizing for relatives."

~ Wayne Dyer

Sometimes, a person in our family is toxic. All we can do is invite them to be in relationship with us. If their love is conditional, if they choose not to be respectful and to not treat us with dignity, we do not have to keep them in our lives. I used to think that wasn't being spiritual. Now I am learning being spiritual is loving myself, and surrounding myself with people who care about me, the way God does. Yes, forgiveness and acceptance is essential. You don't want to carry a grudge about them. But at the end of the day, we need to create our own 'family of friends" who love us, support us, cheer us on, forgive us our shortcomings and treat us with kindness and compassion.

That is spiritual maturity.

Affirmation O' the Day: Today I am a spiritual grown up. I surround myself with loving friends and family.

Stillness

"Dear Self,
In the right moment,
in the perfect way,
I will be shown what to do.
I will be told what to say.
Until then, I will love myself,
I will honor myself,
and I will be still."

~ Iyanla Vanzant, Faith in the Valley

This beautiful thought is simple, and true. It speaks of Trust in the Divine. It teaches us to believe that in Divine right timing, Spirit will show us the way. Our job, then, is to love ourselves in the meantime, and be patient knowing the solution is finding its way to you.

Have faith.

Love,
Sherry
P.S. May the Dodgers season rest in peace...wait 'til next year.

More from Iyanla Vanzant

Yesterday, I posted about Iyanla Vanzant's wonderful little red book, Faith in the Valley. The index in the back allows you to look up a phrase that expresses what you are feeling, and it will direct you to the page that speaks on that feeling. This little book is such a treasure!

I love what she writes about the phrase, "You've got to be kidding me!":

"Just when you think you have it all figured out, something will show up to make you doubt yourself. At the precise moment you think that your troubles are over and that things are finally going your way, things will appear to turn around and head in the other direction. On the very day that you are feeling up, happy, ready to go, you will get some news that will knock the wind right out of your sails. Life is just like that, so don't take it personally.

"When bad times show up in the middle of good times, just sit down, get quiet, remember the truth about who you are, and pray. All things really do work together for your good. Just because things take a curve does not mean they are not on track. The curve could very well be a part of the process! Life always brings us what we are divinely entitled to, and sometimes it will not look the way we want it to look. Sometimes we are being tested. At other times we are simply being called on to surrender, to be patient, and have lots and lots of faith."

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

Love,
Sherry

Faith in The Valley

I want to make sure you all know about the little red book, Faith in The Valley, by Iyanla Vanzant. The subtitle is, "Lessons for Women on the Journey to Peace." I believe it is relevant to men's journeys as well.

It is small enough to keep in your purse. Iyanla speaks from her soul to our soul. She is remarkable. She wrote this book for us when we are 'in our own valleys.' She says, "We have all had valley experiences: lonely, painful, confusing experiences we may believe we do not deserve, should not have, or cannot get out of. In the process of a valley experience, we often miss the lesson. A valley is a life situation designed to teach us the character traits and spiritual virtues that are undeveloped or underdeveloped during our life experiences. Valleys help us stretch, reach, and grow into our greatest potential. However, even when you know what a valley is and its potential good, you want to know what to do, how to behave in the midst of the experience. That's when you can turn to Faith in The Valley."

I recommend you close your eyes and open the book to a random page. That will be the page that contains the message you are meant to read.

Tonight I opened it up to:

"Dear Self,
If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change what I did. I would change the way I felt about what I did."

Wishing you peace if you ever are in your valley...

Love,
Sherry

Wherever You Are

"Wherever you are is not a landing strip...it is a launching pad."
~ Rev. Maureen Hoyt

I love this thought for today. Make peace with where you are at. That's the best thing we can do. If we can see where we are now through the eyes of Source, then we can know we are at a good beginning point. If what you are currently going through is taxing, use the energy of it to fuel your rockets of desire.

Great deeds have come out of great pain.

Affirmation for today: I see my current situation as a launching pad to greater heights of joy and ecstasy. All is well.

Listen

"If you're lost, you feel afraid, and you don't know what to say, then listen, listen to our God.

Is there a question on your mind? Is the answer hard to find? Then listen, listen to our God.

Listen with all your heart and soul, and with all your might; write them and learn them and teach them well. Every morning and night; close your eyes and listen.

Quiet yourself; there's nothing to say, stop all the chatter that gets in the way, and listen, listen to our God.

When the wind and the thunder finally disappear, there's still a voice that you can hear, if you listen to our God.

You can hear it from the top of the highest hill, or from the valley below. It can come from the edge of the universe; it can come from within your soul. Close your eyes and listen."

Rabbi Jeffrey A. Marx, Sha' arei Or, Gates of Light, Services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

A dear friend showed this prayer book me tonight, and I KNEW I was meant to share it with all of you.

Keep listening.

Sherry

A Power Greater Than I

"In the Infinity of Life where I am,
all is perfect, whole, and complete.
I believe in a power far greater than I am
that flows through me every moment of every day.
I open myself to the wisdom within,
knowing that there is only One Intelligence in this Universe.
Out of this One Intelligence comes all the answers,
all the solutions, all the healings, all the new creations.
I trust this Power and Intelligence,
knowing that whatever I need to know is revealed to me,
and that whatever I need comes to me
in the right time, space, and sequence.
All is well in my world."

~ Louise L. Hay, "You Can Heal Your Life"

Louise Hay rocks!! This is a beautiful affirmation I keep handy for occasions when I need to get centered and back in alignment. Her calm and reassuring message reminds me of the Truth.

I know that all IS well in your world and mine...

Peace Be Still

"Peace be still, and know that I am God."

~Psalm 46:10

The last few days, I posted about expecting and accepting Divine Guidance. Today, it follows that we are best served to be still to connect. It is in the silence that we receive guidance and access our Peace by feeling The Presence.

Others can say it so eloquently:

"Be silent and calm every evening and morning...this will produce an undaunted, unbreakable inner habit of happiness that will make you able to meet all the trying situations of every day life."

~ Paramahansa Yogananda

"You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet."

~ Franz Kafka

May peace and stillness bless you today.

Love,
Sherry

Expect and Accept the Answer

I want to talk further about yesterday's post on Divine Guidance. I italicized an important portion of the Ernest Holmes passage for emphasis:

"This can be done only as we let go of the problem, as a problem, and definitely expect and accept its answer."

This is in reference to asking for Divine Guidance. I believe he is saying in order to receive guidance on a problem, first we have to stop thinking of it AS a problem. This is awesome! It is in alignment with the ideas of Law of Attraction that I love. He is teaching us that if we keep thinking of it as a problem, it will stay a problem in our mind. So the surrender process would have to include our letting go of seeing it AS a problem. This is how Law of Attraction will reflect back to us that we believe we no longer HAVE a problem. We are making the whole shift right here with this concept.

Then we have turned a corner, and he recommends we "expect and accept its answer." This part is so groovy to me! Expect the answer. Yes, that implies no doubt. We KNOW the answer is going to reveal itself. It is done. Accept the answer. Oh, this is the crucial last step. Acceptance means we are OPEN to receive it, and we are throwing in a dash of DESERVING into the mix here, too. I Accept the answer. I deserve the answer. I deserve the Divine Guidance. My arms are outstretched and I am ALLOWING the answer to come into my consciousness, into my being, right here and right now.

I love this stuff!!

Oh yeah, baby..."We got a groovy kind of love...."

Divine Guidance

Dear Friends,
I was going to type a small excerpt of Ernest Holmes words on Divine Guidance here. But then I was DIVINELY GUIDED (ha!) to share the entire passage with you(see below). This is what I read when I am seeking guidance on any area of concern. It soothes me to read this, and somehow I have befriended this passage over time, so that there is an agreement between "us," that when I start to read it, It knows it is time to provide me with the answers. I love this passage and apparantly it loves me back. May I suggest that you print this one and keep it handy if it resonates with you. It really works well. You can Trust it. Love, Sherry

"God's Intelligence in the midst of us is governing and guiding, counseling and advising, causing us to know what to do under every circumstance and at all times, if we will but trust it. Therefore, every seeming problem has a right solution, and we may turn to the infinite Knower for the answer.

"If we will but take our personal problem to a high place in our consciousness, it will disappear as the answer to it takes its place. This is the way a problem is solved. We should know that there is nothing in us that can keep this from happening. There is no thought of doubt or limitation. We should feel that the answer is established in our consciousness and will make itself known to our mind, right now, in our present experience. This can be done only as we let go of the problem, as a problem, and definitely expect and accept its answer.

"Since the whole secret of Divine Guidance lies in the ability to accept it, today I affirm that I do accept it. I do believe that the Spirit goes before and prepares the way. I do know that every thought and act is governed and guided by a superior Intelligence. There is something in me that knows what to do. It not only knows what to do, It impels me to act upon what It knows. This very acceptance flows forth into action through me. Always there is an inner, quiet, persistent confidence, a nonresistant but complete acceptance, an inward flowing with the stream of Life, knowing that It carries me safely and surely to my destination and to the accomplishment of every good purpose. This is Divine Guidance and I surrender to it."

~ Ernest Holmes, Science of Mind

On Being Better

"True nobility isn't about being better than anyone else, it is about being better than you used to be."

~ Wayne Dyer

Gosh I love this one! For me, it speaks to personal and spiritual growth and giving ourselves credit for the progress we are making. Our recognition must come from within initially, not from others. So we might want to take a break from beating ourselves up mentally, and acknowledge what a great job we are doing with our lives. God recognizes this in us every day.

How about trying this: See yourself through the eyes of Source. That's what unconditional love is. If we could speak to ourselves as kindly as we speak to, encourage and praise our children & our friends, we'd make the journey a lot easier on ourselves. This is self-parenting; speaking lovingly to ourselves now...the way some of us wish our parents had.

I believe we ARE better than we used to be the day before. We are willing to be in the game of life. To experience all the ups and downs, and make some sense of it. THAT IS being better than we used to be.

Let's keep up the good work of acknowledging our progress. Give credit where credit is due. YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB...AND SO AM I.

Love,
Sherry

Reaching Out

Today, I feel drawn to talk about reaching out. Why is it so hard for us to reach out for help? It may be because we don't want to show our vulnerability. We don't want to appear weak or not together. Maybe it's because we don't want to bother anyone. I wonder if it's a self-esteem issue, that we think, "my need couldn't be as important as your needs, so I don't want to ask you to help me when you're so busy."

Or here's another one, "what if I do ask for help, and they reject my asking?" Oh, maybe they're just busy, but if they did say no, that could feel worse than if you hadn't asked in the first place. So there is an element of Trust in the asking, I believe.

It's an act of courage to risk asking. But the rewards are many. For both parties. If we start with the premise that we're all one, we're all God made manifest, then when we ask a friend for help, we are asking God.

Do you think God is too busy on her cell phone to pick up our call? Never! (God is the Ultimate Multi-tasker)
Do you think God would feel bothered by our reaching out? Never!
Do you think God would ever say no to our asking? Never!

The other side of the coin is to think about the recipient. It can feel really good to be asked to help someone. It is an honor. The recipient may feel more valued, needed, and useful. It may be a true gift to them. They may actually benefit as much as you.

I think of "reaching out," then, as "reaching for God." It is an act of love.
You are loving yourself by asking, and the friend is given the opportunity to love you and be there for you. Both are enriched by the heartwarming experience.

Your asking may be just what you both needed...By sharing what you're going through, it also creates a safe space for the recipient to say, "hey, I've been going through something like that, too."

My spiritual teacher once said, "look at the people around you, because you just don't know who cried themselves to sleep last night."

I believe we were put on this Earth to love one another.

So, reach out and touch somebody you love...

Transformation

"When I find myself in the midst of my own transformation, God is there, loving me through every stage of growth...and reminding me to do the same."

~ Sage Bennett, Agape

I've been going through a major transformation in the past few weeks. I wasn't inspired to write blog posts during that time. Unless it comes from my heart, I won't write them. I'm sorry if you thought I'd forgotten about you. I haven't.

Over the years I have loved the above quote so much that I had memorized it, often sharing it with clients during readings.

Now it is my turn to use the quote to remind me of this Truth. God has been with me through it all, unconditionally loving me and reminding me to love myself no matter what. I am beginning to come back into the light of day and understand what I've just been through. I am nurturing my Self and feeling heartfelt gratitude to those that love and support me, near and far.

God (as me) must love me an awful lot, to have given me (I attracted to myself) such wonderful friends who are now "my family."

If I can love myself as much as my Godself does, that would really be something, wouldn't it? In the meantime, I am being kind to myself as often as I can.

I'm also feeling great appreciation to God for giving us Ben & Jerry's! Ah...sweet relief...and the humor returns.

Love to you all,
Sherry
